How Long Does It Take For Nose Hair To Grow Back After Trimming?

How long does it take for nose hair to grow back? If you’d like to look neater and more groomed, dealing with your nose hair should be at the top of your to-do list. Here’s how often you’ll need to do it, along with a few other tips and safety considerations.

Should You Trim Nose Hair?

If your nose hair is so long that it grows visibly past your nostrils, you should definitely consider trimming it.

Think about it this way – do you like seeing other men’s visible nose hair? Didn’t think so. It’s not a clean or groomed look, especially if you tend to keep your facial hair clean-shaven. That said, even men who cultivate their facial hair should probably still keep the nose hair trimmed.

That said, I don’t recommend tweezing or waxing your nose hair. When you pull hair out, you always run the risk of developing ingrown hairs which can become infected. That’s not a huge deal on the cheeks or neck, but in your nose, it can be very painful and difficult to treat.

It can also get pretty dangerous because of the way the blood vessels in your nose connect to the brain.

You could end up with a condition like nasal furunculosis, which, if left untreated, can progress into a condition with side effects like severe swelling, fever, and headaches. In the worst-case scenario, an infection like that could even kill you, especially if you’re immunocompromised.

How Long Does It Take For Nose Hair To Grow Back?

If you trim your nose hair, it will grow back pretty quickly. You can expect your growth to return to its full glory within a week – perhaps even sooner depending on your age. The good news is that trimming your nose hair is ridiculously easy. Making a nose trim part of your weekly or twice-weekly grooming routine should pose no trouble at all.

How Long Does It Take For Nose Hair to Grow After Plucking

Plucking your nose hair will delay its regrowth significantly, and a single hair may take as long as 3 weeks to regrow. Despite the more long-lasting results, I would still urge you to skip this nose hair removal method. Plucking can be very painful, and developing an ingrown inside your nose can be very dangerous.

How Long Does It Take For Nose Hair After Waxing

Like plucking, waxing also pulls nose hairs directly from the root, so the hair takes longer to grow back. The difference is that waxing pulls all hair out at once while tweezing is done one at a time. You’ll be able to remove nose hair in a more regimented way, whereas with tweezing you may find yourself having to deal with inconsistent regrowth cycles, which means tweezing just a little bit of hair more frequently.

Do Nose Hairs Grow Back Thicker?

No. Trimming your nose hair might make it seem a little thicker since it’ll grow back with a blunt tip rather than a tapered one. However, the hair will still have the exact same level of density and thickness as it did before.

Does Plucked Nose Hair Grow Back Thicker?

No. Pulling hair out from the hair follicle can actually sometimes make it grow back thinner than before. That said, waxing your nose hair is still best avoided.
